| Another one of our
holidays in the summer of 2003 was Deaf Greenbelt, which is part
of the larger Greenbelt Christian Festival. The festival itself
was very diverse with Christian worship in many different cultural
forms such as rock music, classical, folk and hippy!. The whole
festival was held over the late August bank holiday at Cheltenham
race course. The weather was beautiful.
There were workshops
and seminars on the use of BSL in the Christian faith and Penny
Bechizza presented some entertaining stories from the Bible. In
addition to the specific Deaf related events there were also other
seminars on topics such as genetic engineering and third world
debt.
We enjoyed the interpreting
facilities that were provided by Signs of God and enjoyed their
hospitality. In addition, we were able to give thanks for Ian
Stillman's release from prison in India and continue to pray that
he may be able to clear his name so that he can return to his
charitable work amongst the Deaf community in India.
